  • The first visit is the initial evaluation. During this visit, we will get to know you, discuss any symptoms you’re experiencing, what activities are important to you and curate a plan of care specific to you.

    We will go over your history, your difficulties and what your goals are for therapy. Following discussion, we will assess your balance, strength and coordination. A mobility assessment will be completed to determine how you perform daily tasks.

    If agreeable, an internal assessment may be performed to gain a better understanding of how your pelvic floor muscles function. We will conclude with a plan of care so that you can achieve your goals.

  • During an internal exam, we assess your skin integrity, sensation, coordination, strength, flexibility, neural involvement and tone of your pelvic floor muscles (how they contract and relax). This information is helpful to gather information but not necessary.

  • Yes! We support women during all stages of pregnancy and beyond. Whether you are trying to conceive, pregnant, or post partum, pelvic therapy can be helpful.

    During pregnancy, pelvic therapy can help you prepare your body for labor and address any discomfort or aching that impact your ability to perform meaningful activities.

    Around your third trimester, birth preparation education is provided that may include pushing strategies, birthing positions and partner training (perineal massage, counter pressure techniques).

  • It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and footwear such as sneakers for stability.

  • Yes! We bring highly personalized, private, one-on-one, in-home care to you. This ensures you receive the highest quality care without the hassle of traveling. We bring our specialized expertise directly to you all while ensuring privacy and comfort throughout your treatment. Reach out to see if your location is in our travel radius.

  • Yes, menstruation will not interfere with your appointment so long as you feel comfortable.

  • You will be provided with a home exercise program and recommended techniques/modifications during each visit. We want you to implement what is learned in the clinic into your daily life.

  • You can start coming in following your six week OBGYN and/or midwife appointment.

  • No, you do not need a physician referral in order to begin occupational therapy in North Carolina.

  • Purely Pelvic Therapy has elected to be an out-of-network provider. Instead, we provide occupational therapy on a “fee at time of service” basis. By not contracting with your insurance companies, we do not have to limit the time or type of service provided because of insurance restrictions. This allows us to offer competitive rates as we do not pay for billing services.

    If you plan on using your out-of-network benefits, prior to your first scheduled appointment, call your insurance company to be sure you complete understand your occupational therapy benefits. We can provide chart notes or other documentation at your-or your insurance company’s- request. The amount of reimbursement you receive will vary according to the terms of your insurance policy. We cannot make guarantees or estimates regarding what your reimbursement your plan allows as every plan varies.

    Regretfully, we are unable to accept patients with Medicare at this time.

    We accept cash, check, Visa/MasterCard/Discover, or HSA/FSA at the time of service.

    The fee ranges are as follows:

    1 hour initial evaluation - $225

    1 hour follow up treatments- $175

  • In order to respect your time and ours, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice for any cancellation or rescheduling.

    Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be subject to a $100 fee. Same day cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full cost of the session.
